Top 3 Systems with GPS & Fall Detection

There are many ways to protect yourself against falls, especially when you are in-doors. The first tip is to proof your house. Some simply home-safety measures may prevent many potential falls. (Check Preventing Falls: It Starts at Home article).

The next obvious question is how to protect yourself when you are On-The-Go?

Most medical alert systems with fall detection features are stationary systems (you can find these systems here and compare prices).

You will most likely have to wear a unique pendant to enable this feature, and need to be within certain range from the base station for it to work.

But we are looking for mobile systems! The thing is that most mobile alert systems usually do not feature automatic fall detection, and the ones that do, do not support GPS Tracking. After a lot of research, we have successfully found some mobile alert systems that combine GPS tracking and Fall detection, all relatively new on the market!

Check out the three most popular and reliable systems, brought to you by us!

Alert System with GPS & Fall Detection | Type #1

1

A wearable help button that has the speaker and microphone built into it, and so there’s no need for a separate base station. You can go five days between charges with this item and use it to get help anywhere you go that has cellular coverage.

This type of mobile base unit is a small device, usually available in white or black color. The device has a help button located in the center of the front plate, with the speaker located above the button.

2-Way Communication – The base unit hardware supports two-way communication, which means that the device is used for both alerting the call center agents and communication.

Battery Life – The 5-day battery life is provided with all of the companies that offer this type of mobile device. The hardware comes with the charging station on which the device is placed when it needs to be recharged. It only takes 3 hours for this small cradle to fully charge the device.

Connection Type – The unit uses both built-in WiFi AND cellular network to operate (Usually AT&T), so there is no need for a landline. Since the system uses cellular network OR WiFi connection to operate, the device will be operational as long as there is network coverage.

GPS Tracking – This base station supports GPS tracking, which makes it a perfect on the go solution, as the call center agents will be able to detect the location of the user in need, even if the user is unable to communicate. In such cases, the call center agent can see the location of the user on the screen when the alert signal is sent, allowing the agent to help swiftly and dispatch the emergency service to the exact location where the signal from the pendant is detected.

Fall DetectionFall detection is supported by this system, but some companies include it as a part of the system price, while other companies offer it as an optional feature, available at an additional cost.

This is one of the popular types of devices available among mobile on-the-go systems (many companies on the market use the same hardware, with their own logo on it.

Some companies offer this mobile base station device in a separate plan, while other companies provide it as an additional feature in a plan that features both stationary and mobile base unit.

The mobile base station is small, usually white, with a grey button located in the center that says “emergency”. This button is used to alert the call center that the user is in need of assistance.

2-Way Communication – There is a speaker above the button, which supports two-way communication, allowing users to communicate with the call center agents.

Connection Type – The unit works by connecting to cellular network (Usually AT&T). No landline required.

GPS Tracking – GPS tracking is supported. GPS technology uses satellites to locate the user, allowing call center agents to send help swiftly to the location.

Additional Alert Buttons – The mobile unit can be use as a stationary base station. It comes with wearable alert buttons which are all water resistant. The optimal range from the mobile unit is between 100 and 350 feet.

The device can be worn as a necklace / inserted in a dedicated belt pouch. The other option is to use the additional alert buttons within the valid range of the system.

Fall detection – The base station itself does not include fall automatic detection alert. Fall detection is offered by some companies as an add-on pendant. You will have to wear a separate pendant in the valid range from the mobile unit (or just take the small base station with you using the dedicated belt pouch).
